Of the different posters for cigarettes that Loupot designed in 1919, this one is a standout and a turning point in his oeuvre. Until this poster, he would exclusively use the human figure in his designs - his decorative posters for Mekka cigarettes and Sato each depict a young woman smoking. Raga, from the same year, uses a drastically different approach, more representative, suggestive and even abstract, in which two scrolls of smoke intertwine with each other above an ashtray against a black background. Later in his career, he would revisit the graphic concept of emanating plumes, in his posters for Café Martin (1929) and Twining (1930). Loupot 40, Loupot / Musee de l'Affiche 12.
