Loupot began his poster career in Switzerland in the years following the First World War, working primarily for the fashion and luxury goods industries. He moved to Paris in 1923 where he became one of the leaders of the French Art Deco School of graphic design. He is commonly associated with his colleagues A.M. Cassandre, Jean Carlu and Paul Colin. He designed many posters for this paint company, creating the harlequin-like figure as a mascot. This particular image is rare; we could find only one other copy at auction since 1996. Loupot 84A, Loupot / Musee de l'Affiche 42.
