Additional Details

According to Schneiderman, "Le Stryge is one of the stone gargoyles leaning on the parapet of the upper balcony on a tower of Notre-Dame, Paris. This famous view by Meryon (1821-1868) shows the gargoyle frowning in the immediate foreground, with an aerial view of Paris stretching off into the background."
