with-- Another copy. Scattered staining to covers, few stains to front and rear endpapers; lacking dust jacket. Inscribed to Longstreth's parents "whose son did so much to make this book a reality. Caryl Chessman." Chessman's long battle in the courts protesting his innocence while on death row lasted almost 12 years, and he became something of a cause célèbre for the movement to ban capital punishment. He finally went to the gas chamber at San Quentin in 1960.
