Logo by Christiane Mathan for the Film & Radio divisions at the US subsidiary of Independent Factory Records in Manchester. The graphic artist began her career in NY working for the prestigious Chermayeff & Geismar as well as designing furniture for Knoll. She moved to London in the 1980s and began to work with Peter Saville and Brett Wickens. In addition to iconic CD and cassette tape jacket designs for Joy Division, New Order and others, Mathan also adapted the Factory logo for America, utilizing a star and stripes in design - here, for the company's film and video division.
