Woodcut, circa 1633-36. 437x571 mm; 17 1/4x22 1/2 inches, small margins. First state (of 2), before Rubens' address was removed from the block. Letters NG with a number 4 watermark. A brilliant, richly-inked and early impression of this extremely scarce woodcut, with very strong contrasts, consistent witht he earliest impressions of this subject.
We have found approximately only 10 other first state impressions at auction in the past 30 years.
