Letter Signed, "HenryChristophe," as President of Haiti, to the Governor of Cap-Haïtien ("Gouverneur du Cap Henry"), in French, sending an engineer's request for items to complete work on Christophe's palace in Milot and a sample nail of the sort to be used on the palace floors [not present], and requesting that the order be filled without delay. 1 page, 4to, "Liberté et Indépendance" stationery, with integral blank; faint scattered foxing, folds. "I am sending you, Governor, a request made by the engineer in charge, for work to be done on my palace in Milot; would you send me immediately, by two-wheel hand truck, all the items mentioned herein. I am also sending you a three-inch nail that you should use as a model to choose the other pounds of nails mentioned in the said request, to nail down the floors in the said palace. Hurry up."
