Additional Details

4 August 1908: ". . . Grant and I were at a 'roof garden' Cast night, but the show (Follies of 1908 at N.Y. Roof Garden) was so cheap and vulgar we both left at 10pm, the end of the first act, disgusted. . . ."
23 October no year: ". . . I didn't see Grant and don't know whether he was taking 'The Theatrical Rest Cure' and 'with the wittiest play and the playfullest rot he finished the day and then home to his cot'. Anyway I think most decidedly the 'cure' has been a splendid thing for him and a great treat for me. You come back, put on your old clothes and go 'slumming' with us. . . ."
