CIRO FERRI (ATTRIBUTED TO)
Moses and the Burning Bush<>.

Black chalk on cream laid paper. 188x241 mm; 7½x9½ inches. Ex-collection unknown collector, red ink stamp with the letter G in a square verso (not in Lugt).

Numerous pentimenti for the putti supporting God the Father and also for the pose of Moses would indicate that this is an original composition rather than a copy. Traces of red chalk off-setting on the recto could link this sheet to a number of drawings which were made by Ciro Ferri (1634-1689) to be engraved, notably for the Missal of Pope Alexander VII and others.
