The Hope of a Nation is a classroom educational/inspirational poster series containing moral messages for America's children. Each image comes with a sub-heading such as "judgment," "health," "industry" and "neatness." Designed in three or four colors, they are a junior version of the work incentive posters produced by Charles Mather out of Chicago. This set contains a pedagogic instruction guide for teachers containing questions and lessons for each image, three cardboard frames used to display the images, a folded board printed with black and white miniature version of the 40 images from the series and a typed salesman's pitch, used to sell the set to educators around the country (original price $29.90). It also includes a poster of the "Hope of a Nation Painting" an image which comes with the following instructions: "Every nation has ideals for which it stands. [This image] will hang in your school room the entire year as an inspiration to all students, to your teacher and to all who visit your school." This series was reprinted several times before the 1940s and subsequent editions do not include the artist's name on any of the images. List available upon request.
