". . . I don't blame you for being worried over the situation which confronts our country. It's a dangerous one and I would say one reason for it is Carter's unbelievable faith in the Soviets. He seemed to think if we would disarm, that they would be 'good guys' and do the same . . . I'm inclined to think that Ronald Reagan is the best [President] we have had in a long time . . . He has courage and he's determined, in spite of too many politicians who are thinking more of their own well-being and re-election than in their country . . . I have not had a good opinion of the Kennedy family in general. Kennedy did some good things during the Cuban flare-up, when he was President. He got a promise out of the Russians to remove the missiles they had put there but he didn't follow through to make positive they had complied with their promise. Lying is a part of the national policy of the Soviet Union . . . I had little respect for Robert and none for Ted . . . I have negotiated all over the world with the Communists and I know they sign a solemn treaty or pledge, just to break it, at their convenience. They have broken every agreement they have ever made with us . . ."
