CLAUDE MONET AND GEORGE W. THORNLEY
Bateaux de Pêche, Etretat.

Lithograph printed in reddish brown on grayish blue India appliqué, circa 1908. 215x295 mm; 81/8x115/8 inches, full (4- to 61/4-inch) margins. Edition of 25. Signed by both artists in pencil, lower margin. Printed by Belfond, Paris, with the blind stamp lower right. A very good, dark impression of this scarce print.

Monet likely acted on the advice of Degas, who had collaborated with Thornley on a suite of lithographs after his drawings (see Reed/Shapiro 25b) during the late 1880s, when he decided to create the current work.
