CLAUDE MONET AND GEORGE W. THORNLEY
Vue d'une côte avec des voiliers.

Color lithograph on Chine volant tipped onto thin tan cardstock, circa 1894. 203x292 mm; 8x11½ inches, full margins. Artist's proof, with the color notations printed and added in pencil in the lower margin on the mount (the color lithograph was intially likely printed appliqué to the current tan mount sheet and after detaching was tipped on to the original mount). A superb impression of this extremely scarce, possibly unique proof with strong colors.

This appears to be a color lithograph conceived for but not included in the Monet (1840-1926) and Thornley collaboration L'Album de 20 lithographies d'apres les tableaux de Claude Monet, printed by Belfond, Paris, and published by Goupil, Paris, in 1894.
