CLAUDE MONET and GEORGE W THORNLEY
Figure en Plein-Air: Femme à l'Ombrelle tournée vers la droite.

Lithograph printed in blue on off-white Chine appliqué on cream wove paper, circa 1908. 275x195 mm; 10 3/4x7 5/8 inches, full margins. Edition of 25. Signed by both Monet and Thornley in pencil, lower margin. Printed by Belfond, Paris, with the blind stamp lower right and the red ink stamp (Lugt supplement 225d, lower right). Published by Goupil, Paris. From L'Album de 20 lithographies d'apres les tableaux de Claude Monet. A superb, richly-inked impression of this scarce print, with strong contrasts.

Based on Monet's same-titled painting from 1886 now in the Musée d'Orsay, Paris. The model was Suzanne Hoschedé, the daughter of the artist's close friend. Here Monet captures Suzanne in silhouette standing on an embankment at Giverny.
