CLAYBAUGH (DATES UNKNOWN) 20TH ANNUAL AUTOMOBILE SHOW. 1923.
36x25 3/4 inches, 91 1/2x65 cm. The Matthews-Northrup Works, Buffalo.
Condition B / B+: restoration along repaired tears and creases in margins and image; staining in center image and slight staining in margins.
By 1925, Buffalo was home to 30 independent car companies, making it one of America's first automotive centers. As an early industrial hub and a pioneer in automobile manufacturing, it is no wonder Buffalo was chosen to host an automobile show. The venue was the impressive, fortress-like, Connecticut Street Armory, built in 1899; it remains standing to the present day.
