Additional Details

An especially rare copy of a little-known Coburn title that contains original platinum prints of Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Coburn was fascinated with the photographic potential of the American West, and was particularly intrigued by the sense of space and light, which is evident in these images. Clouds were a subject he often returned to, and Shelley's poem complements his images perfectly. Of the edition of 60, it is likely that only 30 were made. Other known copies remain in the collections of the Amon Carter Museum and the George Eastman House.<
