COOPER, JAMES FENIMORE. Autograph Letter Signed, "J. Fenimore Cooper," to the Rev. J. Ransom, informing him that the planned visit would be unnecessary, and conveying news about changes in membership among the Presbyterians, Baptists, and Episcopalians. 1 page, 8vo, integral address leaf; horizontal folds. "Hall," Cooperstown, 17 April 1843

Additional Details

". . . Last evening a letter was received form our rector, giving us reasons to expect his return this week, and, of course, this will deprive us the pleasure of seeing you. . . . The Presbyterians received more than twenty accessions yesterday, and the Baptists several. These are the results of a protracted meeting. Our own people stood pretty firm, nor do I think we have lost any permanent members."
