Throughout the mid-1960s, Corita Kent printed many of her works on Pellon, an acrylic non-woven material developed in the garment industry, commonly used today for pattern making and papermaking. This material is relatively inexpensive and durable, and lends a unique print quality, as Kent stated in a 1977 interview "The paint does look different...When you take a slicker surface or a harder surface, the paint has a more brittle quality–a brighter, sharper quality, whereas these, no matter how sharp the line is, the paint has a soft look."
