unique collection of original costume designs by gustave marie. inscribed and signed by him to Madame Langlois (likely a patron): "en souvenir . . en bien respectueux hommage," 5 September 1902. Papers of the day hailed the 3 act, 5 tableaux revue by "masters of the genre" Monréal and Blondeau, as a sensation. It boasted all new costumes and sets, and a battalion of young and pretty women. The plates here show a range of amusing, sexy, chaste, or dignified characters described as Parisiana, La Cigalle, Le Moulin-Rouge, Les Enfants Terribles, Le Chic, L'Amour, Le Fêtard, numerous dandies and more. Their costumes contain an abundance of decorative detail beautifully rendered to details of laces, bows, and fanciful hats and accessories.
