Additional Details

Sloan was the art director for the J.P. Stevens, the great textile company (now merged into WestPoint Home, Inc.), and worked with many fashion and interior designers. He was friends with Andy Warhol and Sloan's large yellow tabby cat Sam, was one of the feline models for Warhol's famous work 25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy. The notorious Greenwich Village townhouse explosion on March 6, 1970 set off by radical leftist group, the Weather Underground, when their bomb prematurely detonated, affected the townhouse where both Sloan and actor Dustin Hoffman lived, destroying a large portion of the designer's personal collection.
