Basically a composite atlas, though the maps did appear in the Atlas Nouveau which was issued with 119 maps. This volume was assembled with 47 maps, of which 38 are still present. Most of the maps treat European subjects. Additionally there is a continental Asian map, 5 African maps (including a continental), and a map of the Americas.
Double-hemispheric world map is heavily stained; map of the Americas has dampstaining in the lower margin which extends a short distance into the image; other scattered faults throughout.
The atlas is from the library of Peter Wraxhall, an Englishman who settled in New York and became involved in British relations with the Iroquois. In addition to writing several published reports on his efforts with the Iroquois Indians, he served as secretary and aide-de-camp to William Johnson. should be seen.
