A Whitney Museum of American Art label indicates this photograph was exhibited in the "Ralston Crawford Photographs" show, at their Fairfield County Branch, in 1985.

Ralston Crawford is known as an accomplished painter of American industrial landscapes. His keen painterly eye also resulted in elegantly crafted photographic images. He sought inspiration from New Orleans's jazz musicians, Gothic architecture and cemeteries, and colorful street life.
