OVER TWO HUNDRED SKETCHES CRUIKSHANK, GEORGE. Over 200 drawings in ink or graphite, including 6 Signed, most small fragmentary sketches, mostly showing caricatured heads or figures, including some studies for illustrations, all drawn in margins or on versos of over 100 notes to him, or on unsigned holograph retained drafts of letters to others, envelopes, or scraps of paper, each hinged to recto album page, one to a page. With an ALS, an ANS, and a portion of an ALS, each hinged to a page in the album. The album, 4to, full morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe with gilt lettering to spine and raised bands, minor rubbing to edges, slightly bowed; minor toning and dampstains at extreme edges of free endpapers. Cruikshank," to an unknown recipient, concerning a review in the Standard, with sketch of a man's head smoking a pipe, and a holograph postscript: "Amongst the sacrifices, consider that I have sacrificed a New coat to 'The Tower'." 1 page, 5x7 inches; upper half torn away.
