CUSTER'S OWN PORTRAIT OF OFFICERS OF THE SEVENTH CAVALRY CUSTER, GEORGE ARMSTRONG; AND HIS MEN. Photograph Inscribed and Signed, "G.A.C." twice, in ink and pencil, an albumen print, group portrait [by Orlando S. Goff], showing Custer and the officers under his command, including their wives. On the mount below the image, Custer has written, in ink, the name of each person in the group, adding, in pencil, "Names written in the order of the persons in the picture. G.A.C." On the verso, in pencil, he notes "Our house at Fort Lincoln, Dakota." Approximately 5x7 1/4 inches (image), 8x10 inches overall; minor toning at edges of mount, scattered minor foxing on verso.
