Quarto, first illustrated edition in Italian; with eighty-eight full page engravings by Bolognino Zaltieri; lacking one text leaf [page 561/562] and final blank; pagination jumps from page 17 to 25, as published, with nothing missing; title with a number of early signatures, some crossed out, losses to title, reinforced with Japanese tissue; small hole in title which continues through first two signatures; printed bookplate of the Conde de Fuentes de Valdepero, Pedro Enríquez de Guzmán de Acevedo y Toledo (1525-1610) to verso of title, crossed out with a de-accession note dated 1776 below; moderate staining throughout, bound in contemporary parchment, twisted and stiff; leaves in signatures Kk and Ll with worm damage at the foot of the leaf, awkwardly repaired with stiff patches over text and images with the covered parts done in pen; parts of some images neatly traced in pen; 8 x 5 1/2 in.
