Palomino Olalla; paste-decorated edges, leaves washed with slight residual staining, very neat expert pulp fill repairs to the top margins of leaves C2 and C3 (touching a few letters in the headlines), small portions of blank margins of R8 and Dd2 trimmed without loss; the headlines on T1 verso (page 290) & Z7 recto (page 365) very slightly cropped; 5 9/16 x 3 1/2 in.
The first part of Don Quixote was published in Madrid in 1605 and was propelled by popularity into multiple editions and several pirated editions in quick succession. This particular edition was published with Cervantes's approval.
