First edition, quarto, signature of Charles Walmesley to title; bound in half red morocco and buckram boards by Sangorski & Sutcliffe; contents generally good, likely not washed, lightly trimmed; catchword on A4 verso, "He" appearing only as a capital H, the e having dropped; 7 1/8 x 5 in.

Chapman wrote a series of plays inspired by contemporary French politics, beginning with Bussy D'Ambois in 1603. The present play is the final work in the series, with posthumous edits by James Shirley generally considered to provide a lightness to Chapman's sometimes heavier hand.
