Charles Dixon was a member of the Royal Academy and a well-regarded painter of maritime scenes in both watercolor and oil. He worked for many different shipping companies, designing posters for the P&O Line, the Aberdeen Line, the Red Star Line, the French Line, the Khedivial Mail Line and the White Star Line.
