Folio, the last black letter edition of Chaucer's Works, the first to include the Cook's and Squire's Tales's complete endings; edited by Thomas Speght, with glossary, biography and list of sources; engraved frontispiece with portrait of Chaucer bound opposite title (bottom outside corners of first dozen leaves torn away and repaired affecting frontispiece and title; some text loss); cancel slip pasted over one stanza on page 42; bound in full contemporary sprinkled calf paneled in blind tooling, joints mended; ex libris Edward William Harcourt (1825-1891) with armorial bookplate inside front board; bottom outside corners of approximately 15 leaves weakened and torn away with loss to text affecting pages near the end of the work; 12 3/4 x 7 3/4 in.
