Accomplished for Irenas J. Palmer who joined the 5th Regiment Massachussets Voluntary Cavalry on 26 December 1863. Palmer saw action in various engagements including Petersburg and Point Look-out. His was the only Massachusetts cavalry regiment made up entirely of colored men. <
