Cohn was a Polish-Jewish physician whose father emigrated from Israel to Poland. In this wide-ranging work, he covers theology, astronomy, medicine, hygiene, syphilitic illnesses, botany, cosmography, and the four elements. It includes the famous "House of the Body" illustration, which draws a visual and conceptual simile between a building and the workings of the human body.
