Conrad, Joseph (1857-1924)
Nostromo: A Tale of the Seaboard.

London & New York: Harper & Brothers, 1904.

First edition, first issue, octavo; with page 187 mispaginated "871"; bound in full blue cloth stamped with a wave pattern and gilt-lettered spine (a sturdy copy: spotting to only the first four or so leaves; spine caps just pushed, very minor fraying at headcap); 7 1/8 x 4 3/4 in.

Joseph Conrad's famous nautical work was admired by F. Scott Fitgerald, who said, "I'd rather have written Conrad's Nostromo than any other novel." (Ian Watt's" Conrad: Nostromo," from Cambridge University's Landmarks of World Literature series).

From the Library of Sheldon "Shelly" Fireman.
