The original hard-hat issued to Leroy Gordon Cooper by Martin, the prime contractor of the Titan II rocket booster for the Gemini Program. Worn by Cooper at Cape Kennedy before his Gemini 5 mission when he was not wearing his space suit helmet. Hard-hats were required equipment for any visit to the launch pad. The Cape name was later changed back to Cape Canaveral several years later.
