"Cooper" printed by and also signed by Cooper on the front cover. * Loose-Leaf Field Notebook, issued by U.S. Dept. of the Interior, Geological Survey. 5x 8 inches, hard cover with grid paper note sheets. The notebook contains 12 pages of hand written notes by Cooper during field studies in 1964. Measurements and classification of strata layers are recorded plus detailed descriptions of actual rock and mineral samples. Cooper was the youngest of the Mercury astronauts, thus had the highest probably from an age standpoint of landing on the Moon during Apollo. Geology training was a serious subject for Cooper with that probability of future lunar exploration.
