Apart from a depiction of King David, the illustrations are reduced and partly reversed copies of Dürer's 1507-12 Engraved (or Copperplate) Passion. Scherer's collection of prayers and devotional texts was originally published in 1586 as part of Dominique Mengin, Enchiridium Christianarum precationum and separately with illustrations after Dürer in 1593.
