A charmingly detailed bird's-eye view map of Hakodate, one of the busiest port cities in Japan, located on the northern island of Hokkaido. Opened in 1859, the harbor drew trade (primarily fishing) and visitors from other parts of Japan, China and the rest of the world, creating a unique and diverse culture. Today, Hakodate maintains a successful trade and tourist industry. This poster bears an ink stamp "Loaned by Central Outdoor Advertising Agency Co. Inc., Cleveland, Ohio." It is unknown if this poster was ever realized.
