This specially-commissioned bible took roughly twenty years to create and is one of the greatest illustration projects of the Victorian era. The plates were engraved by the Dalziel brothers at their Camden Press in London. Copies are scarce and most bear the George Routledge, London imprint. Few copies of the Scribner and Welford have come to market.
