The right side of the drawing is chipped away, affecting the "6" of the additional date and a few sketched clouds. Porter was a friend of Dalí and then director of the Levy Gallery. Porter left the Gallery for the Museum of Modern Art in 1937, where he became a instrumental figure as director of the film department and assistant secretary of the Museum.
