At the age of 12, Celentano was Thomas Hart Benton's first and youngest student. He attended Parsons School of Design and the National Academy of Design, both in New York. His work often focused on the New York Italian neighborhood where he lived. He exhibited at many major museums as an accomplished American Scene painter during the WPA and WWII era.
