Celentano, at the age of 12, was Thomas Hart Benton's first and youngest student. He attended Parson's School of Design and the National Academy of Design, both in New York. His work often focused on the New York Italian neighborhood where he lived. He exhibited at many of the major museums as an accomplished American Scene painter during the WPA and WWII era.
