From the 1920s until after the Second World War, Daniele Buzzi, who lived in Locarno, designed posters to promote his city and the entire Ticino canton. His work is always graphic and colorful, but it is his early posters, like this one, which stand out artistically, as his style became much more straightforward and illustration-like after the 1930s. The impressive, scenic Gotthard Line in Switzerland which runs from Lucerne to Chiasso and includes the Gotthard Tunnel, was electrified in 1922. This is the French version. Train p. 38.
