Ignazio Danti (1536-1586) was a mathematician, cartographer, and astronomer, who worked under the patronage of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo I de' Medici, Pope Pius V, and Pope Gregory XIII, whom Danti advised concerning the reform of the calendar that became the "Gregorian."
