Daphne Arthur received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007 and her MFA from Yale University School of Art in 2009. She has had a solo exhibition at RARE, New York in 2010, and has been included in group exhibitions at the California African-American Museum, the Florence Biennale and Rush Arts Gallery, New York. Arthur combines painting, sculpture, drawing and collage in her work in an effort to break down both archetypal aesthetic barriers and stereotypical perceptions on issues of race, gender, religion, and cultural identity.
