"Moholy-Nagy was the graphic designer and photographer for The Empire's Airway, a stylish modernist exhibition mounted at the Science Museum in South Kensington in 1935. This was a complete departure from the traditional forms of museum display presentation. It included axonometric drawings, specially made display models and large photomontage panels, features that were commonplace in the 1960s but years ahead of their time in 1930s London" (British Aviation p. 91). Moholy-Nagy designed the image of the flying boat and the eye for the cover of the exhibition's leaflet which was reused with a few modifications on this poster. British Aviation 76 (var).
