Only If You Can Pass Muster Mister!
Photomechanical poster. 407x267mm, 16x10½ inches. San Francisco: The Quarter. Circa 1978.

Original poster for The Quarters, a San Francisco BDSM club located in a basement in South of Market. A short-lived venture started by Drummer magazine co-founder John Embry to create an actual slave training camp. In 1978 Drummer magazine published the first article on "The Quarters Academy" with no mention that the academy was in fact a venture by Drummer itself. Jack Fritscher, photographer and former editor of Drummer magazine, would recall the following: "Although S&M players were looking for such an idealized play space, the Quarters–which was truly an excellent merchandising and tourist-vacation idea–was an ill-fated venture that turned from its earnest intention as a world-famous playroom, owned and staffed by Drummer, to no more than a studio set for some light S&M photography, such as the photo feature, with John Embry's cartoon-balloon dialog captions, "The Day They Installed the Phone in the Dungeon," Drummer 25, December 1978."source: https://www.jackfritscher.com/Drummer/Issues/145/Academy%2003.htmls
