The map by Tanner appeared only in this 1827 edition of the Gazetteer. It shows the United States from the Atlantic to the far eastern part of Texas (which is labeled "Spanish Province of Texas") and Arkansas Territory includes modern day Oklahoma. West of the States of Missouri and Illinois is a large Western Territory, while north of Illinois a large North-West Territory includes modern day Dakotas and Wisconsin.
