Portrait of Chief Gall. Albumen print, the image measuring 11 1/4x9 inches (28.6x22.9 cm.), the sheet slightly larger, the gilt-edged mount 14x11 inches (35.6x27.9 cm.), with the title in the negative (in the margin), Barry's printed credit and Wisconsin studio address on mount recto, and an inscription from Barry and Roland Reed dated 1894 in ink on mount verso. Circa 1888

Gall, Lakota Phizí, was an important military leader of the Hunkpapa Lakota, fighting with Sitting Bull against General Custer in the Battle of Little Big Horn.
