DAVID HAMMONS (1943 - )
Two photocopy prints of the artist's artwork.

Both 216x279 mm; 8 1/2x11 inches (sheet). Both signed and dated in pen and blue ink, lower right

Provenance: acquired directly from the artist; private New York collection.

Both photocopies are of photographs that document early work by David Hammons. In the early 1990s, Hammons created charged works by putting condoms on both dildos and the phallic protrusions of NYC subway turnstiles, or made them into earrings. In this Harlem barbershop performance, he created his Rock Head series of sculpture. Hammons glued hair swept from a Harlem barbershop floor to boulders found in Harlem - which were then given a haircut by the same barber.
