Brooke Hayward is an actress, model, and writer. At the time of Hockney's Friends portfolio, she was married to actor and filmmaker Dennis Hopper. Hopper and Hayward were part of the elite Los Angeles social scene and surrounded themselves with a cadre of leading contemporary artists, including Hockney and Andy Warhol. Other sitters who were drawn for the Friends portfolio include Gregory Evans, model Joe MacDonald, curator Henry Geldzahler (see lot 307), and director Billy Wilder. Scottish Arts Council 177.
