Each pencil on paper depicting upstate New York and New Hampshire, some double-sided, circa 1871-1883. Some titled, dated and/or initialed in pencil. Various sizes and conditions.

Johnson (1827-1908) was born in New York and studied at the National Academy of Design (where he regualrly exhibited from the 1850s onward). He belonged to the second generation of Hudson River School artists, and along with fellow artists John Frederick Kensett and John William Casilear, was a devotee of plein air painting.
